MyWellSteps was created by Dr. Steven Aldana and Dr. Troy Adams. It is the result of nearly four decades of learning through dedicated research and consulting with individuals all over the U.S. Their experiences have taught them what works, what doesn’t, and what it takes to truly help individuals and their families improve their health and change their lives.
We both left academia because we knew that the only way individuals would do the things necessary to prevent chronic disease was if someone showed them how. We thought we could do that. We now call ourselves recovering academics!
Steve: What are you doing next week?
Troy: Nothing interesting.
Steve: Can you get to San Diego?
Troy: Sure. Why?
Steve: People need help and I think that the two of us can help them. I have some ideas. Oh and also, there is great body boarding in San Diego.
Troy: Body boarding? hmmm. Helping people? hmmm. No more faculty meetings? hmmm. I’m there!
The rest is history. We body boarded and probably will again too. Most importantly, in that meeting, we built the foundation for MyWellSteps. The MyWellSteps community gives individuals the education, tools, strategies, and motivation they need to adopt and maintain healthy behaviors for life. With healthy behaviors, most people will have less illness, improved quality of life, and will live 10-20 years longer.
